Viva Kerala (the name of the club was suggested by Dr. P Ramakrishnan of Ernakulam in a contest) took off officially on August 19, 2004 at ceremony held at FACT grounds. Former Fisheries and Tourism Minister of Kerala, Sports Minister of Kerala Dominic Presentation, K Babu MLA, Kerala Football Association President K M I Mather, CMD of FACT S Balan, GM of Dy. FACT K Padmadasan and hundreds of football fans attended the ceremony. |

Professional training, work out and beach training began under coach T K Chathunni and physical trainer Biju Tony. The objective was to prepare a team for the EDFA (Ernakulam District Football Association) Super League and State league in the first year and National Football League (2 nd Division) in the second year.The Ultimate aim is to be the number one football team of India |

The state of Kerala has always been in the forefront of developing, promoting and popularizing football. Kerala has produced many international footballers such as Olympians Abdul Rahman, O. Chandrasekharan, S Narayanan and brilliant internationals such as Mustafah, Moideen Kutty, James Fenn, Thiruvalla Pappan, Chidanandan, Balakrishnan, Dicruz, Xavier Pius, Victor Manjila, C C Jacob, I M Vijayan, and Jo Paul Anchery etc. Kerala also had nurtured nationally known football clubs like KSRTC, Kerala Police, Alind Kundara, FACT, Premier Tyres, Young Challengers, Spirited Youths, SBT, Titanium, KSEB, Cochin Port Trust etc. Kerala even had the unique honour of giving birth to India's first professional football club—FC Kochin. Kannur and Kozhikode are regarded as the nurseries of football in Kerala. But Cochin is known for its infrastructure, management and marketing of the game since the 1950s.Kochi had hosted many state events even before India's independence and organized Asian Cup football and Santhosh Trophy in the late 50s.The city also had the privilege of successfully organizing three Nehru International football championships and the Sahara Cup besides organizing the Federation Cup and National Football League matches involving FC Kochin. Infrastructure facilities at Kochi include the full-fledged Nehru Stadium, Kaloor, Maharaja's College ground the Ambedkar Stadium and the Parade Ground, Fort Kochi in addition to the football fields owned by the Albert's and Thevara Colleges and Rajagiri and St Albert's schools. Gymnasium and weight training facilities are available at the Regional Sports Centre, Kadavantra and other private gymnasiums. Pre-season beach training facilities could be developed at Fort Kochi. |
